It is another day, another chance. People pile into the store as usual, quickly filling the aisles. It looks around. Known faces are examined for flaws and either put back where they were found or put into a shopping trolley, eagerly awaiting a new home. Maybe It will finally be able to join them, finally see the world outside of the shop. The customers start going for the registers, making their purchases. First one ignores It, but there are many more in the queue. Second one, same story. The day goes by as usual. Maybe tomorrow will be the day.
The cashier drops the last receipt of the day in the recycling bin, thinking they really should get rid of the machine; Not a single customer through the entire day has actually brought the receipt with them.
